Scuba diver drowns near Catalina Island isthmus
A 71 year old West Covina man, Harry L. Warner, drowned Sunday afternoon while scuba diving with his 17 year old son near the Catalina Island isthmus. He was aboard his 27 foot cabin cruiser and pronounced dead shortly after 1 pm. Warner had been diving in about 40 feet of water, 100 yards offshore, and was returning to the boat when he "got into trouble." His son could not aid him in time.
