Fast action urged on Alaska natural gas line
Federal Energy Administration officials said Congress and the Ford administration will press for swift action on a proposed Alaska to U S natural gas pipeline. Canada will curtail exports starting with the 1976 77 heating season, with measures to conserve energy and prioritize U S customers. The Mackenzie River delta route faces strong support in Congress, potentially allowing a 48 inch line to move gas within four years.

Coastal states oil impact fund approved by Senate
The Senate passed a bill authorizing nearly 1 billion dollars over three years to aid coastal states facing offshore oil and gas development. It creates a 200 million dollar impact fund and allocates 100 million per year for states where oil is produced or landed, with grants and loans for planning and building needed facilities. The measure faces House review with a 2 billion dollar nine year estimate and a contentious debate over inclusion of landlocked states.
