Father challenges deputies entry in Chowchilla kidnapping case
In a Livermore court hearing Frederick Nickerson Woods III disputed deputies entered his Portola Valley estate without a warrant to search for trespassers tied to the Chowchilla mass kidnapping. He said he did not authorize the entry and only offered to aid a private guard. Evidence logs had noted license plates from cars on the property as potential clues. The defense seeks to suppress the Woods estate search as unlawful. The case involves Frederick Newhall Woods III and brothers James and Richard Schoenfeld, all held on $1 million bail.
