Business groups doubt Kennedy understands free enterprise
UPI reports Chamber of Commerce President H Ladd Plumley voiced doubt that the Kennedy administration fully recognizes that free enterprise operates through many individual decisions rather than government steering. He said business leaders seek predictable conditions and asked which direction the economy will take next, noting a desire for steady dialogue as relations improve after the steel crisis. The discussion followed Kennedy's Yale address and new Treasury depreciation guidelines expected to save $1.5 billion next year.

Industrial relations chief W M Bean indicated the plant would respect the request and send representatives to Washington.
