Government seeks stronger tobacco health warnings in ads
HEW asked Congress to require tougher warning labels on cigarette packs and clearer health cautions in advertising. In a report to Congress Secretary John W. Gardner cites evidence linking smoking to heart disease, bronchitis, emphysema, and lung cancer, urging three steps to curb youth smoking.
