Arson Fire Strikes Fort Ross Museum Stockade
An arsonist set fire Sunday to the historic California museum and stockade at Fort Ross, the only Russian colony in what is now the US mainland. The museum roof and building suffered damage, though artifacts largely escaped due to the thick roof. A flammable substance was spread at several points along the wooden stockade, causing severe scorching.
