Public favors integrity over politics in Supreme Court picks
A Harris survey shows 43 to 22 percent agree there are too many liberals on the court and 79 to 4 percent say faith and ability matter more than liberal or conservative views. Voters supported strict constructionism but rejected Haynsworth and Carswell, while Blackmun’s appointment drew 88 to 5 percent approval. Public sees politics as dangerous in court nominees and wants fairness and integrity above ideology.
