Orville G. Drake a 75 year old former Wall Street broker was shot and killed Monday night while defending his wife from their son in law Philip Guilfoil 16 of Rumson New Jersey The couple was found in Drake s second floor bedroom of their 14 room mansion with Mrs Drake wounded in the bed and Guilfoil dead nearby Authorities said Drake was recovering from a stroke and Mrs Drake had warned police Guilfoil was despondent over money matters and returned to threaten Drake as Mrs Drake asked for a beer before the shooting ended with Guilfoil firing a 49 caliber automatic pistol and Drake attempting to reach the gun before he died.

Authorities said inmate Robert Thompson vanished June 8 and hid in a five by five foot steam vent above the hospital garbages area. Found after a month, he endured daily steam blasts and lived there by night foraging for food and playing hide and seek. Officials called him a 31-year-old who adapted to the warm, moist environment while escaping discovery.
