A police barge towed four tons of seized weapons into the sea and dumped them offshore. The scene recalled memories of crime and family, as cameras captured the sinking trunks of rifles, pistols, and other dangerous items. The lieutenant watched, then smiled at the sunny day.

Harry Suiter Dies State Jobs Aide at 54

Harry Milton Suiter former circulation district manager for the Press Telegram died Thursday at 54. He began as a carrier in 1926, stayed with the paper until 1939 when he joined the California Employment Service. He worked in San Pedro Long Beach and Fullerton offices. Survived by daughter Sandre Kay son John L sisters Mrs Charles Sleeper and Mrs Dwight Bassett. Services Saturday at 10 a.m. First Baptist Church of Fullerton with interment Sunnyside Cemetery Long Beach. McAuley is Mortuary in charge.

Long Beach to House California Aging Regional Office

California Aging Commission selects Long Beach for a southern California regional office. A tentative lease is set for Ocean Centers Building, 110 West Ocean Boulevard. The office will serve counties south of Bakersfield and Santa Barbara, with a three staff start in September, as a step toward a planned central state building in Long Beach.

Hearing Put Off in Bogus Money Case

Preliminary hearing for three men arrested in a Long Beach print shop on counterfeiting charges was postponed to July 15. Defendants include William J. Spinell president of Spinell Printing Inc, his father and King of Las Vegas. They were arrested after a San Pedro bar seizure of $25,000 in counterfeit bills during January probe.
