Youth Helpline aids families facing teen independence
In Bellflower counselors of the Helpline Youth Counseling program say parent child tensions arise as teens seek independence. They use a family centered, symptomatic and developmental approach to resolve conflicts and sometimes place runaways in crisis care. The program aims to reunite families and supports about 80 percent of cases. It operates with annual funding of 100000 to 150000 dollars from eight Southeast District cities and federal grants.
