Libel suit begins against IPT over Pinball Arcade story
Torrance businessman Jon Daugherty testifies in a 37.7 million libel case accusing Independent Press Telegram publisher Ridder and reporter Neiswender of portraying him as linked to gamblers and crime. He says the Sept 22 1974 story caused him to lose leases and decorating contracts, though defense notes he had only letters of intent. The trial, in Superior Court before Judge Ernest Kelly, targets the paper and staff.
