Hammond of organ pioneer dies at 78 in Cornwall
Hammond, famed organ inventor and holder of 110 U S patents, died at home Sunday at age 78 after a short illness. A Cornell graduate and WW I and II era engineer, he founded Hammond Electric Organ Co and helped develop the first electric dock in the United States. He lived in Cornwall the last 14 years and worked on guided missiles and other innovations with Flo Ziegfeld. In Madrid, Angel Garalza al Bastos, 83, was killed by guerrillas in Mozambique, his son said.
