Grand Jury Probes Cory Write-In Campaign Funding
The Orange County Grand Jury is examining charges that Assemblyman Ken Cory funded a Republican write-in candidate for his 1972 election. Janes Sartin of Anaheim says he was subpoenaed to discuss funding while Democratic sources note numerous documents were subpoenaed. Cory chairs the Assembly Democratic Caucus and may seek the state controller nomination. Sartin had alleged a payback offer from Dan Demer for dropping out. Dannemeyer sued Sartin for damages, naming Cory as a co-defendant.
