The Rev A H Hintz will be installed as pastor of University Lutheran Church at 1423 Clark Ave on Sunday Feb 1 at 4 pm. He replaces Rev Don Schwenker who left for Kellong Idaho. Rev E E Brideweser of Los Angeles will lead the service. A reception for the Hintz family will follow.

The Rev. Colin Williams of Melbourne will preach Sunday at 9:30 and 11 am at First Congregational Church, Cedar Avenue and 3rd Street. Born in Australia to a Methodist minister, he studied at Melbourne University, taught there, trained at Drew Seminary, and taught at Drew and Garrett before returning to Australia, now visiting the West Coast for engagements.
Dr. Carevil L. Shuster will present a series on establishing a new Presbyterian church in Hawaii. The talk, Wednesday at 7 PM in Westminster Hall, outlines the survey by the Los Angeles Presbytery and the planned organization under the presbytery’s Church Extension Board with Phifer Jr and Lee leading the effort.

BUCK HILL FALLS PA WP A California minister urged church leaders to focus as much on the education and spiritual renewal of clergy as on building new churches. Rev Dr William B Bratt of San Francisco, superintendent of the Northern California Conference, said the denomination will spend a paltry few thousand dollars to improve pastors intellectual and spiritual resources, while some 40 million dollars will be spent on church plants. He spoke at a street meeting of conference superintendents during the Mid Winter Conference of Congregational Christian Churches.
Youth Army of Council will elect officers for the United Christian Youth Fellowship at its annual banquet tomorrow evening at Second Presbyterian Church Long Beach Strand Avenue. Rev Fred Doty, former associate minister and current Woodland Valley Community Church pastor, will speak. Miss Barbara Ely is named president. attendees include youth from many member churches to mark National Youth Week.
