Fires in Montreal Kill 2, 250 Homeless
Montreal suffered two three alarm fires driven by strong winds and subzero temperatures. In five hours, flames destroyed parts of century old buildings and about 250 people were left homeless, with nearly a million dollars in property damage. A Bank of America teller was held at gunpoint in a related incident, while another fire destroyed a luxury apartment block.
