FTC to Break Up Cereal Giants Over Monopoly Claims
The FTC accuses Kellogg Co, General Mills, General Foods, and Quaker Oats of illegally monopolizing the breakfast cereal market through price coordination, false advertising, and shelf space control. Nabisco and Ralston Purina are not named though linked to the market structure. The four companies are said to hold 99 percent of a 650 million annual cereal business.
