County mayor plan seeks bigger Board for county
Los Angeles area political action moves toward a ballot measure to elect a county mayor and expand the board from five to seven. Kenneth Hahn proposes a one shot November election if June primary yields favorable outcomes with redistricting possible. The plan would place appointment powers with the mayor for most departments and officials, with a veto that the board could override by two thirds.
