Abandon Plan to Oust Colmer From House Rules Committee
Washington reports the House dropped plans to purge Rep. William M. Colmer from the Rules Committee and unanimously approved reseating Colmer and six other Democrats. The chamber also reassigned members to Appropriations and Ways and Means while Rayburn backs a larger liberal-led expansion to ten Democrats and five Republicans, pending a vote midweek.
