Army Delay Repeats For Porterville Soldier Beaty
Richard Beaty, 23, of Porterville California, recalls a 45 month delay in his Army discharge after being drafted in February 1966 and sent to Germany. He never received orders for Vietnam, pursued inquiries, and faced ongoing leave status. His case led to a federal court ruling in favor of the Army, eventually sending him back to Vietnam more than a year and a half after his original departure. His attorney was Charles Marson.
