Underfed Nations Seen Driving World Conflicts
Stanford political scientist Robert C. North tells an International Population conference that rising populations in underdeveloped regions threaten global peace. He cites India and China as examples, notes 80 percent of recent world population growth occurred there, and calls for preventing both unwanted and deeply desired births to avert famine and conflict. Dr. Russel W. Lee adds that only 10 percent have optimum diets, warns of starvation risk for 25 to 50 percent, and argues for feeding all and disbanding armies with UN police as the sole armed force.
