Weinberger Named Leader of the FTC
Casper Weinberger was sworn in as president of the Federal Trade Commission in a White House ceremony. Nixon misidentified him at first, then praised his 20 years in public life and noted his $40,000 FTC salary. Weinberger pledged vigorous consumer protection and said protecting the poor and disadvantaged is essential to defend the capitalist system.
