Catalina plan would not ban boat use near Isthmus
A state hearing in Los Angeles will consider designating Isthmus Isthmus area around Catalina and nearby offshore islands as areas of special biological significance to protect against pollution. The plan would not bar mooring or anchoring or current pleasure boating and would target discharges from sewage systems, industrial waste, or power plants. The hearing is at 10 a.m. in State Building room 1484, open to the public.
