Villa Park Dam dedication in Orange County flood project
The Villa Park Dam near Santiago Creek, Orange County, dedicated Friday, part of a county flood control plan funded by a $42.6 million bond issue. Bellflower couple arrested after death of two year old son
A Bellflower woman and her husband were arrested after their two year old son died from injuries reportedly caused by a beating. Joseph Edward Hamm died en route to Los Angeles County General Hospital after transfer from St. Helen's Hospital. The mother Carolyn Hamm and Sonny Eldon Butler face charges of felony child beating and murder respectively. Butler claimed a hard shake and attempted resuscitation. authorities say he whipped the child with a leather strap. The Hamm family had a year old daughter. the mother stated she did not approve punishment and left the discipline to Butler.

County seeks new federal curbs on dangerous drugs
