Rockefeller Recounted as Humphrey VP Offer Basis
Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York confirmed that Humphrey offered him a possible run as vice president on the Democratic ticket in 1968. Rockefeller said he rejected any such bid stating, No I am a Republican. Humphrey aides and associates noted uncertainty about whether an actual offer existed.
