Legionnaire Blasts VA for Calif Hospital Delays
William Broom reports from Washington that American Legion officers accuse the VA of delaying construction of a 1,000-bed Stanford mental hospital and other beds in California. Sloneker cites rising veteran population, bed shortages, and long waits while noting 60 percent of VA beds in the state are occupied by non veterans. He urges faster bidding and confirms plans for a 1,000-bed Stanford facility and 250 auxiliary beds.
