Hollywood minority hiring plan move aims to avert consent decree
The Justice Department has negotiated with the film industry since last November on a plan to avoid litigation over alleged Civil Rights Act violations in behind the camera and clerical hiring. The proposal sets a minority recruitment pool, monthly outreach to minority sources, and referrals to reach 20 percent minority referrals over six weeks, with firms denying none based on race or origin.
