Hue battle in citadel blocks leaves ruins and casualties
In Hue Vietnam a Marine battalion fights to seize four blocks inside the citadel. A chaplain is killed on the front, and Marines endure monsoon rain, sniper fire, and heavy shelling. Staff Sgt. Robert Thomm, 23, earns more wounds and a fourth Purple Heart as Bravo and Charlie Companies push through ruined streets.
