Gulf Oil President Z D Bonner predicted a 25 to 30 percent gasoline shortage by April as a one cent per gallon Hike by the Federal Energy Office falls short for dealers. Deputy FE0 director Sawhill cited 15 to 20 percent shortages. Bonner criticized the measure and urged broader action to prevent a major crunch.

Harris Survey shows voluntary gas rationing favored
A Harris poll finds 66 to 24 per cent prefer voluntary gasoline rationing to government control. Fifty four to 29 per cent say voluntary energy cuts can carry us through the worst, and 29 to 34 per cent doubt a 10 gallon per car week plan would work. Among drivers 81 per cent, 21 per cent would not cooperate.
