Lincoln Club in Orange County fueled Nixon campaign power

A detailed look at the Lincoln Club of Orange County reveals a wealthy network of California businessmen who funnel large sums to the Republican Party and to Nixon, with 124 screened members paying $500 a year in dues. The club operates quietly from a P O box in Fullerton, led by Arnold Beckman, with Kalmbach as key adviser and Nixon family ties through Donald Nixon. Members include bankers, developers, real estate brokers, and actor John Wayne, and donations flow through committees and direct contributions to national fundraising.

Deficit spending concerns voiced by Business Council leaders

Washington (UPI) The Business Council warned that deficit spending to stimulate the economy could worsen inflation later this year and in 1973. The group noted consumer spending may lead growth while sales pace disappoints. They projected unemployment to fall slowly and rates to rise late in 1972 as Hodgson cited rising employment helped by more teens and women entering the labor force and fewer Vietnam veterans returning.
