Fossil Named After Cerritos College Biologist Jules Crane
Jules M. Crane Jr chair of the Cerritos College biology department and fossil collector has a seaweed fossil named Wieserancia grandicormis in his honor. Paleontologists Parker and Dawson described the find in a California book and said many samples came from Cerritos College students. Crane, 37, lives in Lakewood with his wife Patricia and four children and continues fossil work and bioluminescence research on fishes.

A public hearing on routes for the projected In virial Freeway near the harbor area will likely not be held before January. Engineer Matailio Oulervides of the State Division of Highways said the seven year timeline for the 20ne route remains. A tentative north-south route map shows two basic options from the Commodore Yeing Bridge in Wilmington to Del Amo Boulevard south of Campton with easterly and westerly alignments skirting the Dominguez area refinery complex and joining near Del Amo before ending at the Santa Monica Freeway in Los Angeles.
