Suitor Held in Sleep Pill Murder Attempt

North Hollywood police jailed 35 year old Fred J. Barton on a felonious assault complaint after his former girlfriend Patricia McKeown, 29, said he tried to poison her with 30 sleeping pills. McKeown was found unconscious by her year old son Keith in her home Thursday. Barton allegedly hid in a closet, jumped out, choked her, and forced pills down her throat. Barton denies contact for three weeks.
