Sacramento AP reports Assemblyman Richard Alatorre urges immediate suspension of the farm labor contractor license involved in the Blythe bus crash that killed 19 workers. Alatorre cites prior violations including employing an improperly licensed driver, lacking workers’ comp insurance, and missing sanitary facilities. He notes faulty bus seat fastening contributed to the incident. In Los Angeles, traffic on the Santa Monica Freeway halted 90 minutes after a car struck the center divider, causing a multi car collision. one driver, Ricardo Lopes, 18, was unconscious as the car hit the divider and a wheel fell off. two others treated for minor injuries.
Captain Paull Baldy, 28, the only survivor of a bomber crash that killed seven airmen, died of burns at Brooke Army Medical Center after being flown there from Beale AFB. His wife Lana and six week old son Jason were with him. his parents live in Detroit and Toledo arrangements are pending.
