Better Class of Carrots Coming
East Lansing reports horticulturist Larry R. Baker at Michigan State University says he has made a giant step forward in carrots. He reports a sweeter darker carrot that is straighter and tastier, aiming to replace the bitter flavor blamed on standard carrots. Baker received 4900 dollars from MSU for hybrid carrot work and grows five acres of the crop.

Eateries may have to declare frozen food on menus
Sacramento UPI reports Senate Bill SB1623 by Sen. Alfred Long would require restaurants to disclose when a dish is made from reheated frozen ingredients. He argues frozen food often tastes inferior, urging diners be warned if meals come from the freezer rather than fresh stock.
