Lawmakers cap depletion allowance in 1969 tax reform
Congress trimmed the oil depletion allowance from 27.5 to 22 percent after a 20 percent House vote and 25 percent Senate approval. In Sacramento a bill by Peter F. Schabarum to require removal of lead from regular gasoline grades by 1974 was reintroduced, aiming to curb pollution despite industry opposition.
