Union seeks injunction to block cannery move to San Diego
The United Cannery Workers Union of the Pacific seeks a U S Fourth District Court of Appeals injunction to stop Van Camp Sea Foods from moving a 2 million replacement plant from Terminal Island to San Diego. The union argues the move would increase San Pedro unemployment and shift about 7 million dollars in annual payroll to the border city, potentially hiring Mexican nationals. The NLRB has pushed for negotiations with San Pedro plant workers as discussions continue.
