Job Training Program Crashes Amid Bankruptcies in Two Cities
A federal job training program once funded to aid hard core unemployed collapses as bankruptcies hit. In Los Angeles and New York City SIP funds supported 19 firms with 10.5 million dollars, yet only 526 of 3,751 hired in LA and 566 of 2,404 in NYC were on the job. Eight firms failed or reorganized, with one company settling for under two cents on the dollar.
