Police report a 38 year old Long Beach man, Jerry O Neil, was robbed by a bandit who asked for water, struck him with a .22 revolver, and left him in critical condition at St Mary Medical Center. The suspect, a 6 ft 1 in black man with a goatee, fled with $76. A separate restaurant hold up saw a towel covered robber collect about $300 from waitress Annette Rivera at Casa Margarita s Mexican Food on Cent rd.
Norwalk Park, a recreation facility of the Southeast Park District, will begin winter program registration at 10 a.m. Saturday January 8 and run through January 15. Weekday hours are 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. No registration details follow.
