Boston pitcher Jim Lonborg, star of the American League pennant winner, will undergo knee ligament surgery Wednesday at Sancta Maria Hospital after injuring his knee while skiing at Lake Tahoe. Doctors us saying the injury is a partial tear on the inside of the knee. Lonborg will wear a cast for six weeks followed by special exercises. He won 22 regular season games, two World Series wins, and the Cy Young Award.
