Two Yellow Wreaths Mark Unknowns' Tomb
In freezing dawn at Arlington National Cemetery two yellow chrysanthemum wreaths were placed on the Tomb of the Unknowns, one by the Honor Guard and one by the parents of a Vietnam casualty, Sgt. Marvin Franklin Jr. from Oklahoma. The ceremony drew a small crowd as Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Franklin became the first civilians invited to take part in the Yale ceremony honoring the dead known only to God. Their son, killed near Landing Zone English in Vietnam last Aug. 41, had been part of the Arlington Ceremonial Squadron, the Old Guard. The Frankslins also received three posthumous decorations. The event also featured the wreath from the Old Guard and taps from a bugler.

Legal brief seeks end to illegitimacy bias in child wrongful death suits
A Christian church and the American Jewish Congress petitioned the U S Supreme Court to rule illegitimacy discrimination unconstitutional. They cite a Louisiana ruling that denied five illegitimate children damages for their mother’s death, arguing equal protection and due process require access for children born out of wedlock. The brief notes Louisiana uniquely bars such suits.
