Eight Die In Flint Area Mobile Home Fire
In Clayton Township near Flint Michigan eight people including a newlywed couple five children and a baby-sitter died when a fire destroyed a mobile home at Woodland Mobile Home Court. Initial theories pointed to faulty Christmas tree lighting but investigators listed a defective furnace as the tentative cause. Victims identified include Paul Hartman 42 Phyllis Ann 29 and Helen Harveva 20 as well as four Hartman children Norty Newbold 4 Rebecca 6 Billie 9 Terry 10 and Holly Hartman 18 months. Neighbor Mrs Betty Wright noted the bride recently wed and shown her wedding dress. Authorities confined the blaze to the one home and said the death toll varied earlier due to revised body recoveries. The fire occurred before firefighters were alerted.

Pellets Shot At Officer's Stolen Car In Wild Chase
Harbor Division officer George Goland recovered his new red Capri after a thief sped 90 miles per hour on Alameda Street and struck two sheriff cars. Deputies fired shotguns as they closed in. the driver, 21 year old Thomas Arnold Sanderson of Huntington Beach, was treated for a scalp laceration and booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

Docker is shot dead wife booked
A 32 year old Torrance area longshoreman, Charles E Brock, was shot in the head with a 22 caliber pistol in his Los Angeles home late Sunday night. His wife Barbara, 42, was booked for murder after a quarrel preceding the shooting. Brock died at Harbor General Hospital.
