Lifeguard Peters Convicted in Parents Slayings
Gig Peters, 21, former Huntington Beach lifeguard and honor student, was found guilty of first degree murder in the stabbing of his father Charles 55 and smothering his mother Flora 54 on April 21 1971. The verdict followed a defense claim of possible insanity and Peters’s prior shooting during an escape attempt left him paralyzed. The same jury will decide on Peters’s sanity at the time.
