Daley drops Hanrahan from 72 slate amid indictments
Chicago Mayor Daley, facing two indictments and black resistance to the Daley organization, replaced Edward Hanrahan on the 1972 Democratic slate with Raymond Berg after an emergency session. Hanrahan’s continued run could have put him on the March 21 ballot in a three or four man race. Berg, 40, is known for cleaning up the traffic division.
