Trudeau Eyes Wealth As He Caps Off Ottawa Exchange
Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau told reporters he is rich and Canadians should watch the laws he makes. He estimated his assets at about 206 million dollars and quipped that he is a hell of a rich man. The remarks came after he submitted conflict of interest recommendations to Parliament. Church leader refuses to testify against AIM members

Former United Mine Workers President W A Boyle had his five year sentence cut to three years by Judge Charles Richey citing poor health. He had been convicted in 1972 of illegally using union funds for political donations including to Humphrey. He faces murder trial in Pennsylvania for the slayings of Yablonski and his wife and daughter. A grand jury indicted him on three counts. he remains hospitalized under marshal custody and could seek immediate parole after paying fines.

Man kidnaps wife and shoots parents in Carson
A Torrance man George Johns, 95, abducted his estranged wife Sandra 26 at gunpoint from the Brown home 22419 Neptune Ave. He shot Ralph and Gloria Brown, injuring them, then moved the couple to a motel at 2455 Pacific Coast Highway where he surrendered. The wife was unharmed. Deputies found ammunition in the motel room and the van involved in the escape. The Browns remained in critical condition at Harbor General Hospital.
