Prison Riot Smothered by Tear Gas in Cell Block
STILLWATER Minn 41 year gas grenades smothered a new rebellion by defiant convicts Wednesday night in Silwater prison cell block for habitual troublemakers. Some 40 inmates under discipline for leading a 15 hour sit down in the prison compound last September were subdued after smashing hundreds of windows wrecking cell equipment and strew ing burning clothes about the floors. Acting warden Ralph Tahash said the tear gas was used after inmates had been hollering and raising hell for an hour and noted it was the same hard core group troubled before.
