Climbing Three Teens Scale San Francisco Concrete Cross
Three youths Bela Vadasz Seth Fraden and Howard Clay attempted a class 6 ascent on the 103 foot Mt Davidson concrete cross in San Francisco using pitons and ropes. Police charged them with malicious mischief after they reached the cross but were persuaded to descend. The cross, built in 1933 and lit in 1934, hosts annual Easter sunrise services.
