Long Beach State Choir Delights Overflow Audience

The Long Beach State College Choir conducted by Frank Pooler performed a seasonal program at the Little Theater on Wednesday night drawing about 400 people who heard the concert by loudspeaker in an overflow area. The program featured the Women’s Chorus directed by Julia Musafia, with strong performances by Purcell’s Christmas Anthem and Brahms and Mozart selections. Renowned soloists Esther Scott, Robert Healey, Mary Brower, Pamela McConnell, and others delivered standout vocal work with the ensemble, and Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring closed with refined diction and smooth phrasing.
