The Los Alamitos City Council rejected planning commission recommendations and refused to rezone eight acres near Los Alamitos High School from garden apartment to single family housing. The front four acres south of Cerritos Avenue remain zoned A43, while planners had suggested downgrading the rear four acres to match.

Three people were injured in separate traffic crashes in Long Beach and Los Angeles. Scout Hero Receives Heroism Award in Long Beach
Michael Dybalski a Long Beach Cub Scout rescued two children from a pool at a Fullerton apartment complex last April 9. He saved a 2-year-old girl and then his sister, both siblings were pulled to safety by the boy who received a Certificate for Heroism from the Boy Scouts of America during a ceremony at Will J Reid Scout Park.
