Lawyer seeks dismissal of Kitty Hawk riot charges
NAACP appointed attorney Miltin J. Silverman asked to throw out charges against 19 black sailors aboard the Kitty Hawk. He alleged improper filing, Navy harassment, and lack of official authorization. A special hearing at the Navy Law Center was slated, as lawmakers prepared further hearings on racial tensions aboard the carrier.
