Gilliss Named State Public Works Director in Sacramento
Gov Knight appointed 39 year old C M Gilliss as state director of public works, succeeding Frank B Durkee who retires at 63 after 32 years in the department. County Jail Proposal To Go To Voters In 22 Million Plan
Los Angeles board approves a 22,283,530 county jail project to be placed before voters next spring. The plan includes 16.5 million for construction 1.03 million for architects and 3.45 million for a 50 acre site. Appraisers were appointed to survey possible locations for a 3,300 capacity jail. Two new exit stairways from the Hall of Justice building will be added after current exits were condemned by the County Grand Jury.

Jury Chosen to Try Woman as Embezzler in Georgia
A 12-man WPA jury in Dekalb Superior Court selected to try Margaret L. Burton on embezzlement charges totaling 186000 dollars from a Decatur clinic.
