Court Rules Florida May Curb National Bank Branching
The Supreme Court in Chief Justice Warren E Burger's first majority decision ruled Florida may restrict activities of a national bank. The ruling overrides the U S comptroller and allows armored car and off premise depository services to be treated as branch banking. Florida may bar such services by The First National Bank Plant City as state banks would be barred from similar branches. Other actions limited railroad wage changes without unions, longshoremen injury compensation, and milk price differentials for urban producers.
